Appreciation post: My uncle's advice about always checking the attic first

My uncle, who did this job for 30 years, told me to always check the attic for existing lines before drilling a new hole. I thought it was a waste of time on a simple living room install last week in a newer house. Ngl, I spent an extra hour fishing a line because I drilled right into a bundle of old coax and cat5 that was buried in the insulation. He was totally right. Anyone else have a simple tip that saves a ton of headache?

Oh man, the "buried in the insulation" part is so real... I did the exact same thing with some old phone lines last month. Felt like an idiot for not looking first.
