Warning: don't buy those cheap velcro cable wraps in bulk
I grabbed a 50 pack for $12 off an auction site and they started peeling after a month, leaving sticky goo all over my surge protector. Now I'm stripping it off with rubbing alcohol and paper towels, which is somehow worse than the original mess. Anyone found a brand of wraps that actually holds up past two seasons?
The peeling after a month thing is the worst, had the same mess on a power strip behind my desk. What finally worked for me was switching to the hook and loop ones with a real brand name on the bag, like the Velcro brand ones they sell at hardware stores. They cost more per wrap but I've had a set going on three years now with no goo. Also helps to wipe down the cables with alcohol before you wrap them, the sticky stuff sticks way better to clean plastic.
