Last week I finally tamed the rat's nest behind my TV stand

I had this mess of cables from my Xbox, PS4, and soundbar all tangled together for like 2 years. Last Tuesday I spent 3 hours with a roll of velcro strips and some cable clips. Got it all sorted into neat little bundles. My wife walked in and said "whoa, what happened in here?" Made my week honestly. Anyone else have a big cable cleaning day that felt super satisfying?

my wife walked in and said whoa what happened in here" lol ok but honestly why does it even matter? all that work and in a month you'll have dust bunnies and a new cable from some gadget you just bought. i used to do the same thing with my setup, clean it up real nice and then i realize i barely see behind the tv anyway. its not like im hosting a cable viewing party. plus those velcro strips leave sticky residue after a while and then you gotta scrub that mess. feels like wasted effort when the wires still do their job tangled or not.

Oh I've definitely been there. My first time doing it I made the mistake of using zip ties instead of velcro and had to cut everything loose when I swapped out my receiver six months later. A few things I learned the hard way - label both ends of the cables with a piece of masking tape before you bundle them. Saves so much headache later. Also get those little stick on cable clips that mount to the back of the TV stand itself, not just velcro around the bundles. That way the cables stay put even when you vacuum near the stand. And for the sticky residue problem, a little goo gone takes that right off when you finally need to rearrange things.
