I swore by zip ties for 8 years until my brother-in-law said one thing at a cookout in Toledo
I've been the zip tie guy forever, every cord behind my desk wrapped tight and snipped flush, and I honestly thought velcro straps were for people who couldn't commit. My brother-in-law was over for a cookout last month in Toledo and watched me cut a tie off a dead phone charger just to redo it, then he said 'you're not organizing those, you're welding them shut.' It never even crossed my mind that I'd re-run half those cables within 3 months, so has anyone else switched to velcro and been mad they waited so long?
That line about welding them shut hit me because I did the same thing to a router setup in 2019 and had to cut nine ties when we switched providers. Once you go velcro you also stop dreading the little stuff, like adding one cable or moving a lamp.
