Tried using a straight edge clamp as a drawer stop and it actually worked better than the real thing

I was building a kitchen last month and ran out of those fancy drawer stop clips. Had a few straight edge clamps sitting on the bench, figured why not. Clamped one right on the side of the drawer box where the stop hits, and it held perfect. No slipping, easy to adjust... now I'm wondering if I should just do that from now on. Anybody else ever hack a drawer stop with random hardware?

Does it hold up okay when you slam the drawer shut?

Mine's held up fine after two years of me slamming it daily.

Slam it shut every day... I mean, at some point you gotta wonder if it's that deep. It's a drawer, not a car door.
