Took me 3 years to realize I was over-tightening my drawer slides on every single job

What tipped me off was an old cabinetmaker at a shop in Cleveland watching me struggle with a sticky drawer and just saying 'back those screws off a quarter turn and see what happens.'

Gonna have to push back a LITTLE here. An eighth of a turn maybe, but a full quarter? That's just asking for the whole slide to rattle loose over time. Had a guy insist on doing that to save time, and six months later I was swapping out a drawer that kept jamming on the left side because the slide had shifted just enough to throw everything off alignment. Proper torque against the frame is what keeps those things riding straight, especially if you're using the cheap self-tapping screws that come with the slides. Just my experience from doing kitchens for a decade.

Agree with that a quarter turn is pushing it. I've seen guys back them off just a hair and it still holds solid but if you go too loose the screws start walking in the particle board.
