The old finisher in Dayton taught me to label my shims by thickness in pencil
Was setting a run of upper cabs on a remodel off Salem Ave and an old finisher watched me dig through a coffee can of shims for 10 minutes. He grabbed a pencil and wrote 1/16, 1/8, 3/32 right on the shim stacks so I could grab the right one without eyeballing, and now I keep two cans split by size. Any of you sort shims a different way, or is the coffee can just tradition at this point?
