Shoutout to the lead carpenter on a custom job in Portland who showed me how to use shims properly

I watched him shim a full 8-foot pantry cabinet perfectly level in under 2 minutes last week, and now I realize I've been wasting 20 minutes per cabinet for the last 3 years, anyone else ever get shown up that bad on site?

Is it bad that I still can't get a cabinet level with a laser level and a prayer?

Haha OH man, you are NOT alone in this. I swear laser levels are just little green liars that look accurate but somehow throw things off by a quarter inch. Last weekend I spent two hours fighting with one only to realize I'd been leveling against the floor which was ALSO crooked. I ended up just shimming the cabinet with a folded up beer coaster and calling it "character." Honestly sometimes you gotta just close your eyes, push it in, and hope nobody puts a marble on top of it.
