Saw a hidden drawer system in a 1920s house in Portland

I was checking out a friend's old house and found a built-in cabinet with a secret. The whole bottom panel slid out to reveal a shallow drawer, maybe two inches deep. It was made with simple wood runners and a hidden catch, no fancy hardware. Has anyone built something like this before? I'm curious about the best way to hide the seams.

@faithb78 I'm guessing that desk had way more character than a 2 inch hidden drawer in a 1920s cabinet. Guess the original owner was hiding something worth about 5 cents in there.

That hidden catch detail reminds me of a false back I found in an old desk once.

Oh yeah, false backs are the best... I just kept tapping around the edges until a panel popped loose.
