Saw a guy at the Des Moines flea market resawing veneer with a handsaw and no jig
Stopped by the flea market on Sunday and this older guy had a little booth set up, just cutting veneer by hand off a walnut board with a plain panel saw and a clamped straightedge. I've been fighting my bandsaw drift on thin stock for two years, and he made it look easier in ten minutes than anything I've tried. Anyone here actually resaw by hand for real work, or is that just a booth trick?

Why would you call it just a booth trick when the guy actually cut real veneer off a board in front of you? Hand resawing is how it was done for hundreds of years before bandsaws existed, and plenty of folks still do it for small runs. The trick is a sharp rip saw with the right tooth count, a good line, and not rushing the cut. Your bandsaw drift is a setup problem, not proof that hand work is fake.
