My table saw fence slipped 1/8 inch mid-cut and now I have a $200 lesson sitting in my shop
Was building a walnut buffet for a customer in Austin last Tuesday and about halfway through ripping a 6 foot board, the fence on my old contractor saw shifted on me. Didn't notice until I stacked the pieces and one rail was a full 1/8 inch narrower than the other. I stood there staring at $200 of walnut like an idiot for a solid five minutes before my wife yelled down asking if I was okay. Ended up trimming the whole thing down to a smaller size and turning it into a side table instead, which the customer actually liked better. Now I check the fence lock with a tap test before every single cut, even when I'm just ripping scrap. Anyone else had a fence creep on them, or is it time to just bite the bullet on a cabinet saw?
