Just built a test cabinet with pocket holes instead of dowels and I take it back

I've been hating on pocket holes for years, thought they were a weak shortcut for weekend warriors. But a buddy at the local woodworking meetup last month dared me to try his Kreg jig on a simple face frame. I ran some tests with poplar scraps and the joints held up way better than I expected even without glue. Has anyone else changed their mind about a technique after actually trying it on a real piece?

Swear I was in the same boat before. Thought they were all hype until one finally pulled through on a messy situation. Now I'm eating crow and actually recommending them to people.
