Drawer slide on a 15 year old build finally gave out yesterday

I built a birch ply kitchen for a client back in 2009, and the soft close drawer slide on the spice rack just snapped its plastic clip. The drawer dropped right onto the cabinet face frame, took a chip out of the edge. I replaced it with a similar brand but the new one is about 3mm shorter, so I had to shim the back mount. Took me 45 minutes of fiddling with a 3mm spacer block. Has anyone else dealt with older soft close slides failing where the newer versions don't line up exactly? Curious if there's a better way around the size differences without rebuilding the whole drawer box.
