A kitchen install in Portland taught me to always check the floor first

I was putting in a set of custom base cabinets for a remodel last fall. The homeowner said the floor was level, so I didn't double-check. Got the first cabinet in and it rocked like a rocking horse. Grabbed my level and found a 3/4 inch dip over 4 feet. Had to pull everything out and start over with shims, which added a full day to the job. My old boss used to say 'trust but verify' and I finally get it. How do you guys handle surprise floor issues without losing your whole schedule?

My uncle's crew budgets an extra half day for floor prep on every job now.

My last tile job needed two full days just for leveling... that extra half day sounds like a lifesaver.
