TIL my office was spending $400 a month on paper towels and I had no idea

I was helping our office manager clean out the supply closet last week and found receipts showing we order 24 cases of the same industrial rolls every month. Turns out the janitorial company was auto-shipping them without anyone checking if we actually needed that many. Has anyone else caught a recurring supply order that was quietly draining your budget?

Jumped in to audit our own maintenance orders after hearing this and found the same exact thing with cleaning supply subscriptions. We were getting charged for 18 mop heads a month when we maybe used 4. The auto-ship thing is really sneaky because nobody checks it until someone actually looks at the numbers. I had to call three places to cancel the extra orders and got the runaround from the vendor saying it was standard practice. Now I check every single recurring order quarterly and feel like a detective finding all this wasted cash.
