That $400 "smart" inventory system I bought was a complete joke

Spent 6 months setting it up and it kept double counting our fast movers in the warehouse. Switched back to a $20 whiteboard and clipboard and things actually run smoother now - has anyone else dumped expensive software for simple methods?

Complexity just gives you more ways to mess up.

@lee_grant97 nailed it. Keep it simple, keep it working. I used to run a small IT shop and we had a client who wanted every bell and whistle on their network. Firewalls with deep packet inspection, VLANs everywhere, failover on failover. First time something went wrong, took me three hours just to trace the problem because the logs were spread across five different systems. Swapped them out for a basic managed switch and a solid router, cut their downtime by 80%. Complexity just adds failure points.
