Switching to a cloud ERP saved my ops team $1,800 a month but almost broke our inventory flow
We ran everything on QuickBooks Desktop plus spreadsheets for 6 years. Last quarter I finally moved us to NetSuite. The first 3 weeks were brutal, our picking numbers tanked because the staff kept double scanning items. But after we rebuilt the bin locations from scratch, we cleared a backlog that used to take 40 hours in just 12. The real kicker was support costs. Old setup needed a guy in Tulsa for $1,200 a month just to keep the server alive. Now we pay $300 flat. If you are thinking about switching, budget at least a full month of chaos before things level out. Has anyone else lost a week of data during migration?
Heard a podcast where a logistics guy said cloud ERPs are like moving houses, you always lose something small in the move but the new place is way better in the long run. Glad you got the inventory flow back, that month of chaos sounds exactly like what he warned about.
