Our Monday team huddle went from 45 minutes to 12 after we moved it to 8am
Six months ago our ops team was burning almost 45 minutes every Monday morning on a standing meeting that mostly turned into people rehashing stuff already in the shared sheet. I timed it once out of frustration and we were at 44 minutes with maybe 10 minutes of actual decisions made. Around March we moved the start time from 9am to 8am on a trial run, mostly because our warehouse lead in Reno starts at 6 and was already deep into his day by 9. The first two weeks felt rough, people dragging in with coffee, but then something clicked. By starting at 8 sharp with a hard stop at 8:15, folks came with their one issue already written down instead of rambling through it live. Now we finish in 12 minutes flat and the rest of the day actually feels usable. The odd part is nothing about the agenda changed, just the time and the hard stop. Has anyone else seen a meeting shrink like that just from moving the clock, or was it the 15 minute cap that did the real work?
