Lost a $15k contract over a missed email chain last month in Denver

I bid on a commercial repaint job back in March, followed up twice, got crickets. Last month I found out they sent me three emails with revised specs and a start date while my inbox was filtering them into spam. By the time I saw it they had already hired someone else. Anyone else had a deal fall through because email filters buried the response?

Did you check your spam folder regularly back then? I started using a separate email address just for bids and contracts after almost the exact same thing happened to me. I set up a free Gmail account and only use it for work proposals, no newsletters or junk. I also added the client's domain to my contacts before I even send the first quote. Sounds silly but it forces their replies to come to my main inbox. Also, I make it a habit to check spam every Friday afternoon for anything I missed. Saved me at least twice since then.

honestly I'm not sure this is as big of a deal as some people make it lol @spencer664 i get the separate email thing but checking spam once a week feels like overkill. I've had emails slip through too but most clients will follow up with a text or a phone call if they actually want you bad enough. if they ghost after one spam filter that's on them for not picking up the phone.
