Had to choose between a $50 software subscription or a $5 notebook for my inventory tracking

I run a small warehouse and the fancy inventory app wanted $50 a month, so I went with a spiral notebook from the dollar store instead. Three weeks in and I'm drowning in crossed-out entries and coffee stains trying to keep up with 200 SKUs. Has anyone else made a penny-wise choice that totally backfired on them?

Started a home bakery and thought I was smarter than the $30 recipe scaling app. Now I'm over here doing fractions on napkins and my cookies taste like despair.
