The $200 NDA template that turned out to be a joke

A vendor sent me a 12 page NDA last month that read like a novel, so I paid a lawyer $200 to look it over and she laughed out loud. Turns out half the clauses contradicted each other and it would've been tossed in court fast if anything went wrong. Convinced me that cheap templates are worse than no contract at all, especially when you're dealing with a $15k deal. Anyone else got burned by a boilerplate agreement that looked legit?

Went through something similar with a lease agreement, ended up just writing my own one page version and having a real lawyer glance at it for like 50 bucks. Worked way better than that fancy looking 20 page mess.
