Lost $1,200 on a trademark 'service' that just filed my own paperwork back to me
Paid a company called Trademark Hound $1,200 to lock down my bakery's name, and all they did was file the same form I could've filled out myself on the USPTO site for $250. Found out 3 weeks later when I called the real patent office in Alexandria to check on my status and they had no clue who this company was. Turns out their 'legal team' was just a call center in Tampa reading off a script. Has anyone actually disputed charges like this, or am I stuck eating the loss?
A Tampa call center reading off a script while calling itself a legal team is a nice touch. Basically you paid $950 extra to have someone else hit Ctrl+P. Dispute it with your card company anyway, services not as described, and file a complaint with the FTC and your state attorney general since this smells like a scam. The real kicker is the USPTO filing fee for a bakery name is actually $250 to $350 depending on what you pick, so they marked it up almost 5x for doing nothing.
