A client in Phoenix made me rethink how I write contracts
I had a call last Tuesday with a small business owner who paid me $2,800 for a lease review, and she kept asking why my contract had more pages than her actual lease. She said, 'You're just covering yourself, not protecting me,' and honestly that hit different. I mean, idk, maybe it's just me but I realized I've been drafting with the landlord's risk in mind instead of what the tenant actually needs to walk away from. Has anyone else had a client call out their boilerplate language like that, and did you tweak your templates after?
