Skeptical about the $2 laminated joke sticker idea, then sold 40 at a Ohio flea market
I always figured cheap laminated stickers with dumb jokes on them were a waste of time compared to the vinyl cut stuff I make for car windows. My wife talked me into printing 100 of them for a booth at a flea market in Wilmington, Ohio, mostly because the laminator was already sitting on the shelf collecting dust. I priced them at 2 bucks each and figured I would come home with 80 of them. By noon I had sold 40, and a guy in a John Deere hat bought six at once because his grandkids put them on their laptops. The thing that got me was how many people asked if I had more of the one that said "My other car is also broken." I still think vinyl is the better product, but I stopped turning my nose up at the cheap stuff. Anyone else make a batch of low cost stickers thinking they would flop, and then watch them move faster than the nice ones?

Vinyl cut and laminated aren't really competing products, they just sell to different buyers. Laminated jokes are an impulse buy at two bucks, the kind of thing someone grabs while walking past your booth. Vinyl folks come looking for you on purpose and they'll pay real money. Forty sales by noon is solid, but that's mostly a flea market crowd thing, not proof the cheap stuff is a better product.
