Hit a bumper sticker design goldmine at a garage sale for $5
I was driving home from my night shift last Saturday and spotted a garage sale that had a whole box of old bumper stickers for five bucks. Turned out it was from a retired graphic designer who worked on campaign slogans back in the 80s, and some of them are hilariously outdated but clever. I got like 40 unique designs, including one that says "My other car is a horse" with a hand-drawn pony. Has anyone else found great inspiration from thrift store finds or random junk piles?

That box sounds like a total score! I found a similar stash at an estate sale last year, ended up with a bunch of old political buttons and a few bumper stickers from the 70s. My favorite one says "I Brake for Snails" with this goofy cartoon snail on it. It's probably the dumbest thing on my car but I get honks and laughs from people all the time at red lights.

Hang on, I think that "I Brake for Snails" might actually be a reference to a very specific gag from an old underground comic, maybe R. Crumb? I could be wrong though (I usually am about niche stuff like that). But either way, getting honks at stoplights for a snail bumper sticker is top-tier chaos. You're basically telling people you'll slam on the brakes for a tiny mollusk, which is both hilarious and terrifying if anyone takes it seriously. Total score on the estate sale find, by the way.
