TIL those premium $40 journal pens bleed through every page I own

I bought a set of those fancy fineliners everyone raves about for $42 at a craft store in Portland. First week they felt smooth and I thought I finally understood the hype. But by page 20 I noticed dark ghosting on the back of every spread I made. After 3 months and a ruined half-filled notebook I tossed them in the drawer. My $2 Bic markers from the drugstore actually work better and don't leak through. Anyone else fall for expensive pens that just make a mess of your layouts?

Bought a $35 fountain pen and it bled through every single page of my bullet journal...

Oh man @wren806, I feel this so hard. "Bled through every single page" is exactly what happened to me with a fancy Pilot Metropolitan I tried. What finally worked was swapping the ink to something like Waterman or Pelikan 4001, those are way drier and didn't bleed even in my cheap journal. Also, try a finer nib size if you can swap it, that made a huge difference for me without making the pen feel scratchy.
