Shoutout to my friend who saw my messy weekly spread and said 'that looks stressful'
I was showing off my bullet journal from last month, which had about five different colored pens and a bunch of symbols I made up on the spot, and she pointed out that my key took up a whole page and I kept forgetting what my own marks meant. I realized I was trying to make it too fancy and it was actually stopping me from using it to get things done. Has anyone else simplified their key down to just the basics and found it worked better?

My key used to look like a spy's codebook. I had to keep decoding my own to-do list.

Did you ever try color coding them? That's what I ended up doing when my keys got out of hand. I just bought a pack of those little silicone rings and used red for deadlines, blue for errands, green for calls. Made it way easier to scan through without having to remember what a zigzag line meant. Saved me from those awkward moments where I'd be standing in the grocery aisle trying to decode my own handwriting...
