PSA: my daily spread went from 3 lines to a full page in 6 weeks and I know why
Back in January I was logging maybe 3 tasks a day and it took me 6 weeks to fill one notebook, then I started copying every single thing from my phone calendar and email into the daily log by hand instead of just the stuff that mattered. Now I am on my 4th notebook since March and my spreads are so packed I can barely read them, which defeats the whole point of a bu journal. Has anyone else watched their dailies balloon like this, and did you cut back or just switch to a bigger page size?
The part about copying every single thing from your phone calendar and email by hand is what gets me, because that is not journaling at that point, that is just data entry with extra steps. You are basically building a second inbox for yourself, and now you have to maintain both. The real trap here is that most of that stuff never needed to touch paper, because a phone is already better at remembering a dentist appointment than a notebook is. Try this instead, write down only the things that actually changed your day or that you would forget why you wrote them in a month. And yeah, going to a bigger page size just gives you more room to do the same thing, so that fixes nothing.
