PSA: Found out my habit tracker was lying to me for 4 months straight

I was flipping through my bullet journal from last spring and noticed something weird. Every single day in April through July I checked off 'water 8 glasses' as done. Then I actually counted what I was drinking. Turns out my mason jar is only 12 ounces, not 16. So I was only drinking about 6 glasses a day and marking it as 8. Felt like a total idiot when I did the math at my kitchen table Tuesday night. Now I actually measure my water bottle capacity and write it on the dang jar with a sharpie. Has anyone else discovered some measurement or habit you tracked was totally off from what you thought? Whats the worst one you caught?

Burned my tongue on coffee this morning cause I trusted the temperature gauge on my french press, which turns out has been reading about 15 degrees low for the last six months. What got me thinking is how many of these little lies we just accept from our tools without ever double checking them against reality. My buddy at work swears his fitness watch has him burning 2,500 calories a day doing nothing, and I have to bite my tongue every time he brings it up. The real scam might be the tracking industry itself selling us gadgets calibrated by interns in a hurry. Makes me wonder if the only honest measurement left is the one you take yourself with something stupid simple, like a sharpie on a mason jar.

Fifteen degrees low for six months and you never knew! That's wild man, I would have just been blaming my taste buds or the beans or something. It makes you wonder how many other things are quietly lying to us like that. Your buddy's fitness watch sounds like a total joke too, 2,500 calories doing nothing, come on.
