My library's bullet journal club is splitting over fancy vs. functional spreads
Our club used to focus on simple, rapid logging, but now half the members spend hours on fancy themes. Some say it helps with being creative and staying motivated, while others think it messes with the fast, useful point of bullet journaling. I'm curious where everyone stands on this shift.

Sounds like your club turned into an art class that forgot it was for planning. Guess some folks need a full watercolor masterpiece just to remember to buy milk. Might as well split into two groups, the scribblers and the scrapbookers. Let them have their fancy spreads, more power to them, but keep the rapid log for actual getting stuff done.

Yeah we hit that wall last year. Honestly, we just added a weekly "artist hour" before the real planning talk. People who want to paint borders or do fancy lettering show up early and get it out of their system. Then when the official meeting starts, it's all business with the rapid logs. It let the creative folks have their fun without slowing down the folks who just need a to-do list.

Forget splitting them up, the art stuff is what makes the planning fun and gets people to show up.
