My cousin in Phoenix showed me her messy weekly spread and it fixed my whole system

We were at her kitchen table last month, and her journal was open. It had scribbles, arrows, and half a page crossed out. She said, "I used to redo pages if they weren't perfect. Now I just let it be messy. It works better." I realized I was spending 2 hours every Sunday making mine look nice instead of using it. Has anyone else switched from pretty to practical?

Yeah, two hours sounds crazy but my buddy Mark used to do something similar. He would spend every Saturday morning cleaning his car inside and out, like a full detail. Took him almost three hours every time. He said it was his way to relax, but his wife finally asked why he didn't just use the drive-thru car wash. He stopped when he realized it was eating up his whole morning. Makes you wonder what routines we keep just because we started them, right?

My husband used to spend Saturday afternoons organizing his toolbox over and over. He would lay all the wrenches out by size and then put them back in order. It took him a solid two hours each time and he said it cleared his head. One day I asked him if he actually fixed anything with those tools and he realized it was just a habit he fell into. Now he watches a show for 20 minutes instead and gets the same relaxation without losing half the day.
