Tried the envelope trick with $300 in cash and the cat ate $40 of it
Three weeks ago I pulled $300 out in twenties and split it into envelopes for groceries, gas, and fun money. The system actually worked for about five days, right up until my cat knocked the grocery envelope off the counter and chewed up two bills. I went to the bank on 5th street and the teller said they could swap them if I filled out a form, which I did, and it took 20 minutes. The good news is I found out the cat has no interest in a debit card. Now the cash lives in a locked drawer and I keep a paper log of what I pull out. Has anyone else's pet cost them more than their own budget did?
