Showerthought: my bank's auto-transfer beat my 'I'll just be careful' plan by about $300
I used to just eyeball my checking account and hope I didn't overspend before payday, and I'd usually squeak by with like $20 left. Back in April I set up an automatic $75 transfer to savings every Friday, and I honestly forgot it was even happening. Checked last night and there's $900 sitting there that I never once missed. Turns out I can't trust myself to be careful, but I can trust a robot to move money before I see it. Does anyone else's brain just spend whatever is in the account?
