Sat down with a financial planner in Denver last week and she asked me what my money was actually doing for me

Got me thinking about how I track every dollar but never stop to ask if the spending matches what I care about, has anyone else had a planner challenge how they think about their budget?

That "fill up a leaky bucket" line fits too well. You can track every nickel but still end up broke in spirit if the spending doesn't match your values. A good planner pushes you to look at the why, not just the how much.

I track every dollar too but never ask myself if I'm actually happy with where it goes.
