My wife said my grocery budget was way off so I tracked every receipt for 30 days

She told me I was spending $200 a month on snacks alone without realizing it. I bought a $3 notebook and wrote down every single food purchase for a month. Has anyone else been shocked by their actual numbers after tracking?

That whole "little things add up" thing people say is way more real than most folks want to admit. It's like how everyone swears they barely drink soda but somehow the recycling bin is full of cans every week. Numbers don't lie but our brains sure do when it comes to justifying small purchases. That $200 snack number is probably just the tip of the iceberg once you start looking at other categories too.

Honestly that bit about "the recycling bin being full of cans every week" hit way too close to home. I was literally the same with coffee shop visits, kept telling myself it was just a once in a while thing and then I actually checked my bank statements and it was like $80 a month just on lattes. Tbh @mila_craig4 you're spot on about the numbers not lying, once you add up all those little "it's just a few bucks" moments it's honestly kind of scary. The snack thing is just the start, I bet if people really looked at takeout drinks, parking fees, or even random app subscriptions they'd be shocked too.
