My emergency fund saved me from a $1,200 car repair last month

Last month, my car's transmission started acting up right here in Boise. The mechanic told me it would be $1,200 to fix. Three years ago, I started putting $50 from every paycheck into a separate savings account just for stuff like this. I didn't have to touch my regular bills money or put the repair on a credit card. It felt like a huge win because my budget didn't break. Has anyone else had a big expense pop up that their emergency fund covered?

Man, same here, my emergency fund covered a busted water heater last winter!

Yeah, that fund is a lifesaver. Mine got a real workout when my old fridge decided to die on a holiday weekend. Had to buy a new one at the worst possible time.

Honestly, I used to think that was silly, but my own roof leak proved me wrong.
