My dad's advice about buying gift wrap in January finally paid off
My dad always told me to stock up on wrapping paper right after Christmas when it's 90% off. I finally tried it this year and got like 8 rolls for under 3 bucks total at Target. Has anyone else found other seasonal stuff that's way cheaper if you just wait a month?

My dad was the same way, he'd buy a whole new set of gardening tools every fall when they clearanced them out at the hardware store. Told me it was the only way to get a good shovel without spending a fortune. @the_julia sounds like she's got the right idea with decorations, honestly. The trick is remembering you actually have the stuff when the season comes back around - I've definitely bought Halloween candy on November 2nd and then forgot I had it until the next year's Halloween (still ate it, no regrets). But the real gold mine is seasonal clothing, like buying swim suits in September or winter coats in March. You can get some really nice stuff for pennies on the dollar if you don't care about being trendy that exact second.

Had a friend who bought a giant inflatable Halloween spider on November 1st for like 4 bucks. She kept it in her trunk for a year and then scared the crap out of her neighbors the next Halloween. Then she did the same thing with Christmas lights in January and got a whole string for maybe 2 dollars. She's basically running a yearly decoration scheme now.
