My brother and I saved a bunch on our mom's birthday gift

We pooled our money for one nice thing instead of buying separate stuff. It made her day and kept our wallets happy.

My cousin and I did that for our dad last year and got him a proper espresso machine. One solid gift actually feels more thoughtful than two random things.

Absolutely, @the_jordan, that shows how one good thing beats many okay ones in life too.

Disagree there. Sometimes a bunch of small, spot-on gifts show you really paid attention.

What about giving small gifts on random days instead of just special occasions? That shows you're thinking of them often, not only when you have to. It makes gift-giving a regular act of care, which can be really meaningful.
