Found a free community garden plot in my town

Was walking my dog near the old library last week. Saw a new sign for a city-run community garden. It said plots are free for residents, you just bring your own seeds. I signed up and got a 10x10 foot spot. Now I'm growing my own veggies and cutting my grocery bill. Has anyone else tried a community garden to save money?

Wait, you mean the city is just giving away land for free? That's wild, I've only ever seen plots that cost like fifty bucks a season around here. I guess there are some perks to living in a bigger town with more grant money or whatever.

What are you planting first?

My grandma always started with Kentucky Wonder pole beans. She said they needed the longest season to climb. I'm sticking with that tradition this year.
