Appreciation post: My neighbor said my grocery list looked like a ransom note

I switched to a simple app after she pointed out my old system of 17 different colored sticky notes was costing me extra time and money, but does anyone else find those budgeting apps a bit too pushy with the alerts?

What kind of alerts are you getting that feel pushy? My app just dings at me for every little thing...

My buddy Dave used one of those apps for a month and it sent him a notification at 6 AM on a Saturday that said "You've exceeded your coffee budget by 40%." He tossed his phone across the room and went back to using a spiral notebook from the dollar store. The thing that got me is the constant comparison to people in your area, like I need to know that the Johnsons down the street spend 12 bucks less on takeout than I do. Those apps mean well but they treat you like a kid who can't handle their own wallet.
