A coworker told me to check my grocery receipts. I found $47 in overcharges last week.
Been getting slack about how food costs were eating my whole budget. Figured whatever, prices just went up. Then this older guy at work said, "You know most stores fix the price but not the sign, right?" Started checking every receipt line by line. Last week alone I caught three items ringing up at full price when the shelf tag said clearance, plus one thing scanned twice. $47 back on one card after two trips to customer service. Now I do it for every store. Has anyone else found weird stuff on their receipts that added up to real money?
That seems like a lot of effort for maybe a few bucks though. Stores make mistakes but catching $47 in one week sounds like you got unlucky or the system was messing up big time. Most people probably aren't finding that kind of cash sitting in their receipts.
