Vent: My sister's comment about my 'free' trip to Lisbon really got to me

Honestly, I was bragging about how I only spent $800 on flights and a week in a hostel. She just looked at me and said, 'Yeah, but you spent 12 hours in layovers and shared a room with 8 strangers to save $200. Was your time and comfort really worth that little?' Tbh, it hit different because she's right. I was so focused on the cash price I didn't factor in the real cost. Has anyone else had a moment like this that made you rethink what a 'hack' actually is?

Your "real cost" idea just changed my whole budget mindset.

Right? It makes you see the true price of your time, not just the money.

Totally get that, I did the same thing with a cheap flight to Rome (ended up with a 3am bus ride from a different airport, what a mess).
