The hostel worker in Lisbon who told me to skip the day pass and just walk
Two years ago at a hostel in Lisbon, the guy at the front desk saw me about to buy a $30 transit day pass and told me to skip it, saying the city is small enough to cover on foot if I picked one neighborhood a day. I did it for five days and spent maybe $12 total on the occasional tram, plus I found a tiny bakery in Alfama that no map app showed. Does anyone else think the advice to "always buy the transit pass" is oversold for compact European cities?
