PSA: I stopped buying travel insurance for every trip and my bank account went up $600 in 8 months
Everyone on here swears you need it for every single booking, but I ran the numbers on my last 6 trips (mostly domestic flights under $200) and realized I was paying $40 to $80 a pop to protect a ticket that costs less than the policy. I self-insure now with a $500 emergency fund just for travel screwups and I'm ahead by around $600 since January. Anyone else doing the math on this or am I missing some disaster scenario where it actually pays off?
