Just realized hostels aren't always the cheapest option

Stayed at a hostel in Portland for $45 a night last Tuesday and the wifi was garbage plus I had to share a room with six strangers. Found a motel six blocks away for $55 with my own bathroom and a microwave. Has anyone else noticed hostels getting pricier lately?
