How free museum Tuesdays rewired my travel planning

I was walking downtown last week and saw a sign at the city art museum (the one with the big sculpture out front). It said free admission every Tuesday from 10 am to 5 pm. I used to think museums were too pricey, so I'd skip them on my travels. But now, I just time my city visits for Tuesdays. Last month, I visited three museums for free in one day (saved over $50). It's not just here, I've seen this trend in other cities too. More places are offering free days to attract visitors, which is great for budget travel. You can see great art without spending a dime.

Actually, that free day trend isn't just about pulling in crowds. Museums choose slow weekdays like Tuesdays because nobody goes then. It fills the place up on dead days without cutting into their busy weekend cash. You see this in almost every major city. Sure, it helps travelers save money, but those free days are a calculated move. They still need paying visitors the rest of the week to keep the lights on.

Look at it from the museum's side like brown.reese said. They're not being nice, they're just filling empty seats.

About that trend in other cities, I read it's a common tactic to draw crowds on slow weekdays.
