Honestly, I thought those overnight bus rides across Europe were a total scam to save on a hostel. Tried one from Berlin to Prague for 30 euros and it was a game changer.

Met a girl on a 4am Greyhound out of Pittsburgh once, she fell asleep on my shoulder before we even hit the highway. @julia_burns9 you're dead right about that weird shared experience thing. We talked for like two hours about nothing, just the hum of the bus and the vending machine snacks we split. Last I heard she moved to Chicago.

Meeting a spouse on a night bus sounds like pure chaos (in a good way). You're stuck in a metal tube for hours with strangers, half-asleep and probably a little lost. It's not some perfect meet-cute at a coffee shop. That shared, weird experience must bond people fast. My best stories also come from those messy, unplanned trips, not the fancy ones.
