Hit 50,000 miles in one year just by couch surfing and bus hopping
Tbh I never thought I'd actually hit a big number like that traveling on a shoestring. Last year I set a goal to see how far I could get without spending on flights or hotels. I ended up couch surfing in 18 different cities and taking Greyhound buses through 9 states, all for under $1,200 total. The wild part was realizing I saved over 60% compared to budget motels. Has anyone else tracked their total miles on a dirt cheap trip like this?

8 of those Greyhound buses probably broke down on the side of I-40, I can't believe you made it through 9 states on those things.
