Hit $500 on a single travel booking mistake and it stopped me cold

I was booking a flight to Chicago for a long weekend and accidentally clicked the wrong date. Instead of leaving Thursday I booked Wednesday by mistake. The change fee was $200 and the new ticket cost $300 more since I waited. That $500 mistake taught me to triple check my dates before hitting confirm. Now I take a screenshot of the booking summary before I pay. Anyone else get burned by a simple click that cost you big?

Oh the "screenshot before you pay" trick - I learned that one after paying $150 to change a hotel room I booked for the wrong month entirely. Solidarity in expensive click finger slips.

Exactly what @paige514 said about the screenshot trick - I took it one step further and started reading the confirmation number out loud to myself before clicking. Sounds crazy but it forces my brain to actually process what's on the screen instead of just skimming. The screenshot method saved me last month when I caught a hotel booking that had the wrong check-in date, so now I snap a pic AND read the details out loud like a weirdo. Multiple layers of checkpoints keep my wallet safe from my own stupidity.
