Heard a flight attendant say she packs a empty water bottle for every trip

I overheard a flight attendant say she packs an empty reusable water bottle and fills it at airport fountains, not from Starbucks - that one tip saved me $6 on my last layover in Denver.

Oh man, that is such a smart trick! I started doing the same thing last year after I got tired of paying $5 for a bottle of water at the gate. Now I just bring my giant Nalgene and fill it up at one of those bottle filling stations near the restrooms. It honestly saves me a ton of cash, especially on longer trips where I'd end up buying two or three bottles. Plus I feel a little better about not adding more plastic waste to the world, you know? I mean, it's such a simple thing but it really makes a difference for my wallet and my hydration.

Yeah but lugging around a giant Nalgene all day is a pain though.

Yeah exactly, the trick is finding those stations before you're dehydrated and grumpy. I always scope out the airport map on my phone for water fountains near my gate, saves me wandering around later. Do you ever bring an empty bottle through security or do you fill a disposable one?
